Fraud Advisory: Fake “Holbert Legal” Settlement Scams

Important Notice to the Public

Holbert Law has been made aware of a fraudulent phishing scheme where individuals are receiving spam text messages and emails from an entity calling itself “Holbert Legal.” These deceptive communications claim that the recipient has “settlement funds available” and routes them to a fraudulent website (HolbertLegal.com) or directs inquiries to our legitimate law office.

Please be advised: Holbert Law is completely unaffiliated with these fraudulent messages, the “Holbert Legal” entity, and the lookalike website. This is a brand impersonation phishing scam designed to steal personal, financial, or banking information.

What You Need to Know

We do not solicit via unsolicited texts: Holbert Law will never text or email you out of the blue demanding personal banking information, routing numbers, or processing fees to release a “settlement.”

Do not click links: If you received a message containing a link from “Holbert Legal,” do not click it. It may contain malware or direct you to a spoofed form designed to harvest your sensitive data.

Do not provide sensitive data: If you have already interacted with them or provided bank details, monitor your accounts closely, notify your financial institution immediately, and consider freezing your credit.

How to Report This Scam

If you have been targeted by this phishing campaign, we highly encourage you to document the message (take a screenshot) and report it immediately to federal law enforcement to help get their infrastructure shut down:

  • Report to the FTC: File an official scam report at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
  • Report to the FBI: Submit an internet crime complaint via the IC3 portal at IC3.gov.
  • Report the Text to Your Carrier: Forward any spam text messages directly to 7726 (SPAM) on your mobile device to alert your cellular provider.

Our firm takes identity theft and brand impersonation extremely seriously. We are actively working with law enforcement and internet hosting providers to have the fraudulent lookalike website permanently removed.
